THE PRECIOUS metaLS HAVE
BEEN TRASHED IN THE PAST
TWENTY FOUR HOURS, and yet as we
speak here in Las Vegas to a "Hard Money" conference...
where we are the "token" non-hard money advocate we
are stunned by the continued overt, endless, bullishness
regarding the precious metals. The true believers still
truly believe. The true believers still are convinced that
the US dollar is set to plunge; that the monetary
authorities are continuing to manipulate the price of gold;
that Dr. Bernanke has a "helicopter" waiting somewhere
in Washington to scatter "fiat" money across the land,
and for gold to rally again. It probably shall rally, and
perhaps it shall rally hard today given that it has fallen for
seven or eight consecutive days, depending upon when
one marks the price. Gold is egregiously over-sold; it is
due for a rally, but it will be short lived and it will be
technical in orientation. Gold will not make its next long
term low until the True Believers no longer believe. They
are far from that point at the moment.
