This position is for newly established Connectivity Services team in Beijing, which is part of Remote Management module teams. Connectivity Services team is responsible for Data Synchronization and PC Connectivity technology stream in Symbian OS.
Key Job Responsibilities:
●Assist requirements analysts and architects/senior engineers with the front-end process. Ensuring early and regular review/analysis/estimation of new requirements. (including scenario planning)
●Resolving generic technical issues (e.g. project issues, roll out of new tools, compatibility testing, codeline strategies, quality initiatives)
●Ensure that all teams are developing to ever increasing quality standards, taking an active role in defining them
●Liase with Product Managers for relevant technology streams and Technology Planning to ensure prompt long-lead planning
●Help solve each other’s problems, and provide consistency in technology architecture where appropriate.
●Encourage a flexible and open to new ideas culture within the site, so that the team is well placed to manage change and adaptability. In other words support a continuous improvement culture
●Review and define the technical training program for the site.
●Provide support and advice to the Engineering Manager team on technical issues such as technology architecture, project dependencies, test and integration issues
●Mentoring and supporting line management in objective setting for architects
●Assist engineering manager to build relationships between the local technology streams and Product Management, Sales, Professional Services
●Contribute to defining the Engineering Strategy for the local technology streams.
●Be an external face of engineering outside the site and develop a network of contacts in the local eco-system with external companies and partners
●Primary interface point with other groups for Technology Architecture and related process improvements
●Provide input from a local perspective to Product Management on how the technology steams roadmaps should evolve
●Build relationships between this team and the Strategic Product Managers and System Architects
●Assist local technology streams to promoting and communicating significant technical changes which will impact customers
Essential Requirements:
●To have worked as a Technology Architect, or,
●To have worked as a senior technical consultant within Symbian on multiple licensee products that uses Symbian OS.
●Demonstrating knowledge of working in a development environment, using Symbian OS experience.
●Technical leadership experience required.
●Ability to learn and get up to speed quickly
●Effective communicator and negotiator, both written and verbally
●Excellent leadership skills, including team building
●A knowledge of Symbian OS that is broad and (in some areas) deep
●The ability to mentor those doing software architecture development

Preferred:
●Direct knowledge of SyncML and Data Synchronization standards
