Job Description:
Ubisoft Chengdu Studio is actively searching for an experienced Senior Web Game Developer who has expertise in developing scalable and interactive websites. This is an exciting opportunity for a Senior Web Game Developer to develop an online game platform that the studio can reuse for future browser-ba<x>sed online titles.
Requirements:
The ideal candidate must have demonstrated the following proficiencies in web-ba<x>sed application design/development/implementation for a period of 3-5+ years, and have completed at least one major project or product.
The candidate with the following proficiencies is preferred:
• Game development experience or a demonstrable interest in creating games.
• Strong understanding of game development phases and best practices.
• Design, develop, maintain and optimize secure and scalable web applications.
• Strong knowledge of PHP, Client-side ja<x>vasc<x>ript (jQuery), AJAX development, HTML, CSS, xm<x>l.
• Experience with PHP5 and MySQL5 preferred.
• Strong knowledge of SQL, including stored procedures, triggers, indexes, table normalization and databa<x>se design.
• Proficient with UNIX environments and shell.
• Comfortable with both ob<x>ject oriented and procedural programming methodologies.
• Python, Ruby, and Flash & Actionsc<x>ript will be a bonus.
• Experience in multipla<x>yer online games will be a bonus.
The successful candidate will have prior experience as a key member of a web-ba<x>sed game team. Also, as a successful Senior Web Developer, he/she is expected to work on architecture design, write high quality code, and design technical specifications. He/she should be a creative decision maker who can work independently as well as with other programmers in a joint effort to produce the game.
Ideally, he/she should have experience using a major library like Dojo, YUI or GWT. Experience with a CMS system will be a plus. The candidate we're looking for is expected to have team leadership experience, excellent communication skills, and to be a self-starter, a trainer, and of course have a passion for creating games.
Key Responsibilities:
• Participate in code architecture.
• Write clean, elegant code efficiently.
• Take ownership of projects, from start to launch.
• Communicate fluently with team members; give and receive feedback.
• Produce reliable documentation for work.
• Lead and mentor a team of junior programmers.
