Sr. Technical Project Manager – Platform Engineering (Beijing)
Purpose:
§ The Technical Project Manager (PM) is responsible for management of technical projects for mobile phone Platform Development projects in the Flextronics Beijing Design Center (BDC).
§ This critical position provides PM for electronics, software, component and mechanical development and coordinates these contributions with global Platform Engineering and Program Management teams.
§ This position requires a person with an extensive, demonstrated technical background in all aspects of mobile phone and smart phone products. Exceptional project management for successful shipping products is a must-have.
Principle Accountabilities / Duties:
§ Responsible for coordination and on-time delivery of site project contributions to the global team efforts for:
§ Electronics’ schematic design and layout
§ Mechanical development
§ Embedded software
§ Key component development.
§ Responsible for schedules, resource requirements and status reporting for Platform Engineering projects.
§ Provide the ‘glue’ that links sub teams, makes communications flow, and drives the definition of all inputs and outputs required to successfully execute projects.
§ Coordination of BDC with development activities across multiple sites (North America, Asia).
Required (Must Have) Qualifications
§ Electrical or Electro-Mechanical Engineering Degree
§ Demonstrated design contributor experience in one or more of the technical areas described above.
§ Experience with develop-and-ship projects for mobile phone electronics (PCAs, FPCs) and key sub components (touch displays, batteries, keypads, etc).
§ Experience with develop-and-ship projects for mobile phones mechanical design, including full systems, sub assemblies and peripherals.
§ Knowledge of high density printed circuit board and flexible circuit design, EE design toolsets and design process flow with multiple contributing designers.
§ Knowledge of mobile phone mechanical design process flow with multiple contributing designers.
§ Knowledge of mobile phone embedded software development and validation.
§ Ability to manage multiple projects of varying complexity.
§ Knowledge of critical issues in mobile phone design.
§ Highly motivated team player with excellent communication skills, initiative, superior problem solving skills, and the ability to prioritize tasks.
§ Soft skills necessary to successfully leverage resources in a matrix organization.
§ Experience working with vendor partners in various levels technical and business relationship engagement.
§ Deadline oriented with an ability to manage multiple tasks and projects.
§ Motivated, self-starter with strong interpersonal skills and strong problem solving skills.
§ Fluent written and oral English language
Desired (Nice To Have) Qualifications
§ PMP certification.
§ Experience with Product Data Management (PDM) tools, build up and process.
§ Familiarity with engineering design and analysis software tools: EE, ME, FEA, EMC.
§ Deep knowledge of RF electronics design for consumer products.
§ ARM system development.
§ Core technical knowledge and experience with state of the art mobile phone components: display, touch, camera, battery.
§ Extensive vendor contacts for major mobile phone components.
