In this days of age, politics play a much bigger role in our lives than
any of us care to admit. As members of SoCAPS, we strive to achieve our
missions, the first mission is to advocate the interests of all Chinese
Americans academics. Tomorrow, Nov 2, 2004 is an important day, it is
projected to have the highest turnout of any elections in the time we
can remember. So if you are an American citizen, I encourage you to
make your voice heard by going to the polls tomorrow and submit your
votes for your candidates, whoever they maybe. When you vote, you and
the rest of Chinese American communities win!
On a side note, as part of my contribution to the SoCAPS missions,
recently, on my request, Oct 24 was proclaimed as "Acupuncture and
Oriental Medicine Day" in Wisconsin by the Governor Jim Doyle and
subsequently by the Mayor Tom Barrett of Milwaukee. It becomes the
first state in Midwest and sixth in the country to have an official day
declared for these effective, time-honored traditional therapies,
promoting a greater awareness of the culture and medicine of China
while showcasing their benefits to the American public.
