AVP->VP->Associate Director->Director/Principle->Executive Director
UBS doesn't have this track, and I doubt it exists anywhere else.
With UBS, Associate Director is the starting corporate ti<x>tle I believe. Therefore it's very understandable that if you don't make Director in 5 years your career is over, but it's not the case elsewhere.
With Goldman, or Lehman, VP is the starting corporate ti<x>tle. a VP in Goldman is kind of between an Associate Director and a Director in UBS. So is a VP at Lehman. One level above VP in these two firms, there's Senior VP.
With Citigroup there are ti<x>tles like AVP but Citigroup doesn't have the Associate Director->Director track either.
So the AVP -> VP and Associate Director -> Director tracks are roughly equivalent. There may be firms where these ti<x>tles co-exist but the Directors may mean different things there.
