Job Title: Configuration and Infrastructure Engineer
Job Description: A position in the Global ThoughtWorks Information Systems group, based in the TW BJ office, with the general responsibilities of:
• setting up and supporting software development environments for development teams in ThoughtWorks’ Professional Services division
• supporting the internal technical infrastructure of ThoughtWorks.
This position would be supervised by the Global IS Director. The occupant of this position should expect between 30-50% travel.
Job Duties and Expectations:
Applicants for this position need to be able to demonstrate a substantial number of the following:
• ability to set up and support build, deployment, and configuration systems for multi-tier Java J2EE, .NET, and Ruby applications. This implies experience with most of the following tools:
o Multiple operating systems (Windows, Unix, Linux)
o Application servers, such as WebSphere and JBoss
o Oracle, SQLServer, and MySQL databases
o Build tools like ANT, Maven, and CruiseControl
o Source code and configuration repository systems like CVS and StarTeam
o Automated testing frameworks
o Configuration script creation
• ability to support corporate technical infrastructure of ThoughtWorks and its customers. This implies experience with many of the following areas:
o Firewall and router appliances (primarily Cisco)
o Networking concepts, technologies, and protocols (TCP/IP, IPSec, HTTP, FTP, DHCP, and DNS)
o Other network appliances (switches, hubs, and modems)
o Enterprise network environment design and support
o Data backup systems (Symantec Backup Exec, BriteStore)
o VoiP phone systems (Cisco)
• General consulting and support skills, such as the following:
o Superior customer-facing skills
o Superior troubleshooting skills
o Ability to multi-task and work under dynamic conditions and constraints with minimal supervision
o Ability to prioritize individual assignments in order to maximize team productivity
o Ability to work with colleagues distributed globally
o Willingness to participate in a 24/7 system infrastructure monitoring and support team
Minimum Qualifications: A Bachelor's degree in an appropriate field with at least 2-3 years of experience in many of the areas indicated above, or demonstrated success with at least 4-5 years of experience in many of the areas indicated above, with a keen interest in learning those areas where there is little or no experience.
Technical Architect
Responsibilities:
In this position you will be responsible for technical leadership contributing to the successful delivery of application development projects. Your responsibilities will also include but not be limited to:
Use the latest tools and techniques (currently J2EE, .NET, C#, xml, Agile Methodologies, Tibco, Web Services...)
Drive the design and construction of a client's complex business problems into innovative technology solutions
Do hands-on coding and proactively mentor developers (including pair programming)
Be part of a high energy team focused on full life-cycle development
Manage development teams of 5 to 10 people from project definition through implementation
Assume responsibility for overall design and implementation, using the latest tools available
Create complex, enterprise-transforming business applications
Work closely with senior project management and clients
Communicate with clients including effective use of presentations, proposals and other mediums
Travel to work at client sites, potentially including international travel
Qualifications:
5+ years experience of analysis, design, development and implementation of large-scale OO applications
Strong development experience with OO languages such as Java, J2EE and EAI technologies (Tibco, Vitria, SeeBeyond, MQ Series)
Broad knowledge of the Java API, including but not limited to JMS, EJB, JSP, Servlets
Strong knowledge of design patterns, refactoring and unit testing
Agile Methodology knowledge, such as Extreme Programming (XP) & SCRUM
Leadership experience in assessing staff skill levels, assigning work appropriately, directing team in specific project activities, estimation, and facilitating career development
Experience with relational databases is a plus
Excellent written and oral communication skills in both English and Chinese
Ideally with an academic background in Computer Science or Engineering
Project Manager
Responsibilities:
In this position you will be responsible for the successful delivery of application development projects. Your responsibilities will also include but not be limited to:
Utilize Agile Methodologies to manage full life-cycle development of large, complex, J2EE & .NET projects
Manage team dynamics, delivering coaching and candid feedback
Set expectations and build relationships at the CEO/CTO/CIO level
Leverage understanding of client business needs to deliver superior solutions
Assess client needs for additional services and development opportunities
Travel to work at client sites, which may include international travel
Qualifications:
5+ years of experience including analysis, design, coding and implementation, most of which with large scale OO applications
4+ years of Project Management experience on custom-designed, full life-cycle application development projects
Exceptional consulting and client management skills, including Program Management organization, presentations, project planning, managing expectations
Experience managing large teams (20+ people) is a plus
Experience in application (package) or system deployment, including implementation and enhancements is a plus
Extensive OOAD and formal methodology knowledge and experience, preferably Agile Methodologies
Broad technical knowledge of application architecture, system architecture, application integration, relational databases, and object oriented languages
Domain knowledge in Financial Services, Energy, Government and/or Retail would be a huge plus
Bachelor of Science in Business, Finance, Computer Information Systems or a related field or the equivalent
Able to travel to client sites, including international travel
Fluent in written and oral English
Business/Systems Analyst
Location: Beijing
Responsibilities:
In this position you will be responsible for understanding and communicating client requirements for successful project delivery. Your responsibilities will also include but not be limited to:
*Interview client users & managers to understand and create functional requirements
*Document, define and review detailed business and functional requirements
*Work closely with developers and architects to build custom J2EE and .NET applications
*Conduct user focus sessions with key client team members
*Be involved with all phases of development (analysis, design, coding, testing, deployment)
*Coaching and mentoring team members
*Travel to work at client sites
Qualifications:
*Experience in systems analysis on development of new and replacement application projects
*Experience in gathering and developing detailed functional requirements for OO, multi-tier applications
*Experience in designing and facilitating user focus sessions
*Experience in leading process improvement efforts is very valuable
*Experience with iterative development methodologies, preferable Agile Methodologies
*Knowledge of a testing methodology and/or experience in testing (System, Unit, Integration, Interface)
*Understanding of data modeling, object modeling, and OO design principles
*Strong understanding of capabilities and limitations of programming languages, middleware solutions, application servers and presentation layer tools is a plus, but not required
*Strong skills using MSOffice & Lotus Notes
*Exceptional listening, written and verbal communication skills in both English and Chinese
Application Developer
Responsibilities:
In this position you will be responsible for high-quality application development. Your responsibilities will also include but not be limited to:
*Create complex, enterprise-transforming business applications as a member of diverse, high energy teams focused on full life-cycle development
*Use the latest tools and techniques (currently J2EE, C#/.NET, xml, Agile Methodologies, Web Services, EAI tools...)

6.Participated in full lifecycle development on large projects
