got a low ball offer and the deal fell through. I felt so frustrated and I sold. In Aug. last year I got in again and the stock price was up to $34 by the end of Oct. based on Oct. price, yesterday's msft offer was not that significant and nothing to write home about, considerting that the offering price consists of half in cash and half in msft stock which has dropped in price 2 points plus. Microsoft's proposal timing is so predictable and opportunistic after Yahoo stock dropped to $17 to $19 range. It is like a man is asking a lady's hand to marry him; the lady said no several times, all things considered. Then, the lady's father, the main financial provider of the household, passed away. The man sees the opportunity and is offering a 趁火打劫价。No longer being a Yahoo stockholder, I really don't care but I have to say this is a very smart move from msft point of view. I saw this is coming but my timing was lousy.  How much cash and cash equivalent does Yahoo have? I know Yahoo has a low long term debt rate(about 7% of its debt/equity), minus cash and plus the debts to see how much msft really pays for it.
Online advertizing is a high growth business sector with annual growth in the USA about 27% compounding. In 4 years time it will grow from 2007's $18 billions to $61 billions in 2012. From the letter I do see there are rooms for further negotiation on offering price.
