The answer is a deafening YES.
It's a natural, albeit tragic, process. Just like the "bad money drives out good money process", where everyone acts for their personal interest and collectively they lose -- the opposite of Adam Smith's invisible hand concept, where everyone acts for their own personal interest and collectively they all benefit.
Come to look at it, even the "dear investors" are not the ones to blame, just like the robber barons are not the ones to praise to making capitalism work -- it's all part of nature, just like Newton's laws are part of nature.
