Primarily Job Responsibilities
Responsible for defining product quality vision, delivering on this vision by operating at a highly technical level focused on product quality, code and release quality, defect prevention as well as process excellence. At the core of this role is the unique challenge of tackling the complexity of eBay’s search platform and applications. This role also requires strong collaboration and partnership with other engineering services to influence engineering best practices and infuse quality throughout the development life cycle.
Responsible for managing a large team of QA and QE engineers that are responsible for the quality and release of eBay Search platform and applications.
* Provide leadership/vision to enable team in suggesting quality engineering and testing improvements to ensure quality on the eBay production site
* Well versed in recruiting, building, and mentoring local engineering teams.
* Act as a strong advocate for software quality in all spheres of product development process.
* Develop and document standards, practices, processes, guidelines and checklists. Mentor staff, as well as be capable of hands-on participation, including in design, coding techniques and time management. Interact daily with Business, Technical, and Program Management teams.
* Estimate development/testing effort, prioritize projects, plan implementations, and help rollout system changes. Help define, and supervise the testing of complex, multi-tier distributed solutions.
* Develop industry and product technical expertise relevant to eBay’s deployment and business model
* Proactively identify and resolve resource conflicts and set priorities for parallel projects. Work closely with Project Managers on resource and project reprioritization and subsequent impacts. Communicate these impacts effectively.
Job Requirements
* Savvy technically with ability to create vision and provide thought leadership. Should be capable as well as passionate about building and nurturing a high performing QA and QE team.
* Solid Knowledge of Java, C++ Oracle, xm<x>l, J2EE, Application servers (Web sphere/web-logic). Prefer to have experience in the search domain or large scale ecommerce system.
* Solid Knowledge of QA testing techniques to determine appropriate number of test iterations and applying risk-ba<x>sed testing concepts.
* Familiarity working on Unix/NT systems
* Experience testing of software applications that are java-ba<x>sed.
* Quality Assurance background, including JUnit/Code Coverage Mock concepts/Static Analysis, would be beneficial.
Basic Qualifications
BS/MS with at-least 10+ years of hands-on experience, with 5+ yrs experience leading/managing automation engineering/testing teams.
Hands-on Experience in JAVA and Oracle RDBMS experience. Automation experience desirable.
Familiarity working on NT systems
Experience testing of software applications that are java-ba<x>sed.
Knowledge of J2EE and application servers such as websphere and web-logic.
