IMHO, western countries have their own problems and short comings. But that is not what we are discussing here.
Regarding big picture, given eastern and western culture, what are the main differences?
For anyone who stayed long in China would notice China is more people oriented, people are closely knitted togehter, and the different attitudes among different people including attitudes towards themselves.
Is this kind of attitude good for kids who haven't obtained anything by themselves through life? Sometimes it is hard to accept the western belief of treating kids equally, but when one is in conscious mind, one might be able to identify the correlation even between innovation and individulism and treating kids as equal.
For anyone who stayed long in China would notice that Chinese like to labeling people, most Chinese are like that. But people come from all shapes and sizes, so do peoples' lives. No matter rich or poor, the one thing people have to deal with is themselves, IMHO Chinese society and way of life doesn't encourage kids learn to deal with themselves, instead what they learned is how to compete academically. But is the way to success that straight forward? What is really success in life?
IMHO, most tasks and everyone require preparation and this preparation mostly has to come at an young age.
IMHO, China lacks of great company is because China lacks truely talented independent thinker and doer, IMHO, it might have something to do with the way China prepares its kids.
What should the preparation be? I have no idea.
