Reporting to the APAC Finance Director in Shanghai to provide accurate and timely revenue recognition guidance to sales and service organization in APAC. Ensure that corporate accounting directives and policies are being followed. As a key member of the finance management team, this person will work closely with the Finance Director to address all revenue related issues in the region.
Responsibilities:
• Review APAC license agreements for compliance with internal revenue recognition policy and revenue recognition guidance (SOP 97-2, SOP81-1 and all other relating pronouncements) APAC Countries include Japan, Korea, China, Thailand, India, Singapore, Malaysia and Australia
• Review legal contracts, agency agreements, sub-contractor agreements and highlight any potential revenue recognition issues and propose way to resolve.
• Partner with the APAC senior sales management, country managers and service team to address revenue recognition issues as license or service agreements are negotiated.
• Act as the Level 1 approval on APAC service proposals and consulting service agreement, and service bid sheet. Highlight any potential revenue issues and propose ways to minimize impacts to revenue recognition.
• Liaise with the Corporate revenue team on any revenue related issues and provide regular update on their resolutions.
• Work closely with Corporate credit team to address credit capacity or past due issues before deals are signed and booked.
• Prepare accurate and timely license deal review memos on material license deals shortly after quarter-end. Follow up on any subsequent queries raised by Corporate revenue team and/or external auditor.
• Prepare accurate and timely license/service bundled deals analysis, multiple element deal review analysis on a quarterly basis. Draw logic conclusions based on the analysis.
• Review and update any new Corporate revenue accounting policies and internal control procedures. Ensure that tight financial and internal control and compliance with corporate accounting policies, principles and practices.
• Provide regular training and update to sales and service team on any change in the Company revenue recognition policies.
• Liaise and support the Corporate accounting team on any corporate initiative.
• Carry out high-profile ad hoc project as may be required from time to time.
Qualifications:
• Solid 8 to 10 years of professional working experience in software/IT industry and/or public accounting with at least 3 years in the area of revenue recognition.
• Strong working knowledge of software revenue recognition rules (SOP 97-2, SOP81-1 and the related pronouncement)
• Strong working knowledge of accounting system, SOX and internal control.
• Experience with Oracle preferred and on Microsoft office suite of tools, i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint experience required.
• Proficient in written and spoken English. Spoken Mandarin is preferred
• Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Must be able to work with people of different cultures and interface with all levels in a matrix driven organization.
• Process strong hands-on regional experience in carry out the financial and accounting functions.
• Process good understanding of different business practice in the region.
• Able to work under tight deadline especially during quarter-end close.
• University graduated (degree in accounting) and a member of a well recognized local or equivalent foreign accounting professional body.
• Prior experience in Big 4 or well recognized accounting firm is preferable.
• Occasion travel to US head office and to other Asian countries as required
