Fat finger didn't exist, or it should be thousands of fat fingers. Remember, 70% of equity trading was from HFT (or programing trading). There must be some threshold level broken to trigger this sell-off. This just shows what will happen to the market when liquidity disappear. HFT killed over 12 months of hard fought propaganda by the likes of CNBC.
