I love to sell naked PUTs for the time premium on solid companies with low p/e,
have done that with NYT, VIA, BUD, MSFT, WMT, UVN, etc and in general earning a 2%
return over a 6-week period. Granted this is a bull market that helps people
on the long side, but I would not mind owning these companies out right if their
share price drop further. JNJ is just an example, as I would earn 5.5% over a
seven months period. I don't think one can accurately predict short-term
movement, and I am reluctant to buy short-term calls. As the market
moves up further, it's getting more difficult to find good entry points to
initiate a position, that's why I am keeping majority of the capital in cash to
wait for the right opportunity to deploy.
