One of my friends who were sent back to China by his U.S. employer often encountered such kind of problems. Each time when he returns to the U.S., he will be asked to go to the "Secondary" room, and then the immigration officer will ask him different questions and write something on his passport, such as "Left 3 months", "Left 4 months","Suggest I-131", etc. To me, it's scary.
