If you pay your own insurance, you would realize how expensive
health care is and get upset that while globalization has made
everything else cheaper, healthcare cost continue to go up.
The itemized billings look cryptic, and new technology did not
drive down the price. If consumers are the losers, who are the
winners?
=> Drug makers. Of course, but they need to spend heavily R&D
to maintain a healthy pipeline and keep their stock price
float. They deserve what they make, but making bets on
individual companies are risky.
=> Equipment makers?
=> Hospitals?
=> Doctors. Most are not as rich as you think, in addition to
heavy overheads, their liability insurance got more and more
expensive everyday.
Who are the long-term winners in this game, and will consistently keep
outstanding margin and market dominance and sort of become a toll
bridge/monopoly in this business?
