first of all what is american culture and who are americans? those who with navy blue passports or those who were born here? those speak english with accents but won all the top prizes for this country or those speak native english within 500 words and flipping burgers? the west coast liberals or the southern conservetives...?
then, when it comes to chinese, are we talking about the farmers in the remote areas with true traditional values? or are we talking about those wanna be white collars in shenzhen, beijing, shanghai speaking manderin with taiwanese accents, speaking chinese with english sentence structure and speaking english with chinese accents? are we talking about those chinese dedicated their youth to the construction of the great socialist motherlands? or are we talking about the chinese who simply don't give about any thing except for their own little world?
chinokino has a good point: apple to apple comparason.
so, without specific comments on the article, in general i say we could and we should compare, but we need to know what we are comparing with at least to make an effort to justify it on a fiar ground...
