Before Pearl Harbor America had already started blocking Japan economically, cutting off its ocean transportations and important supplies such as raw materials and oil. America realized its best interest were seriously threatened by Japan's aggressiveness. I believe America did a good thing to stop Japanese expansion no matter it was for its' own interests or not. Therefore, the conflicts between the two countries were inevitable at the time. There was no such IF as you said.
The older generation in Taiwan loved Japanese rulers better than GMD government before and during WWII? GMD never had the chance to dominate Taiwan. After 甲午战争. Qing dynasty dumped Taiwan to Japan (Qing was a foreign invader himself!). When Japan invaded China, it recruited many Taiwan young people of that older generation as soldiers to burn, to kill, and to rob Chinese people. Only a relatively small group of people, represented by Li Deng Hui, were benefiting from Japanese rules. So initially GMD troups led by general Chen Yi were warmly welcomed by Taiwan masses. However, GMD screwed up in a big way. Many Taiwan local people were deeply dissappointed.
Qing dynasty composed by barbarian tribes/people ruled China for almost 300 years!!! The real pains of China started at that time imo. Those mandarines made China weaker and weaker. I hate to see why China nowadays is still full of Qing shxts in movies and on tv.
Talking about that bride committing suicide, are you recommending that?! This was just showing how cruel and inhumane that Japanese government was to wash the brains of the whole nation of Japan so that their soldiers used their bodies as suicidal bombs in the WWII, which was extremely against human natures!!!
