while i was waiting for service people to replace my tires, i walked into a retial store near by to kill time.
i saw some amzing stuff on the shelves:
two potteries in exactly the styles i love, one tagged for USD 14.00 the other was USD 9.99.
this is unbelieveable! if they were placed in art galleries, i would have bought them even at 20 times prices.
the question, if this is massively replicated at industrial level, does it still make it art works? since it is sold as home decor in retail chain stores, it is really meant to be a general merchandize. but the same thing if not many replicates but limited to a degree (we do know that sculptures have limited editions too at no less than usd 6000 for not that nationally well known artists) so why we have prob to sell at hgih prices
for same works?
i thought this was quite an interesting question and i thought
about it for quite a while. this is about art, art works and then art market and beyond...
