reading, reading and reading
but it makes heck of a difference what you read to beging with. if you have been reading qiong yao, it sure ain't going to help put you where you wanna be
then, just by reading is never enough. you need your own experiences. think about it: books you read at different ages 15/18/21/18/31/35/38...and you will make sense out of the same book totally different. what does that tell us: we need our own social experiences to validate what we read about and further to understand the things between the lines.
look at the top violinsts of the world, almost all of them were and are open minded super nice guys.
talk to the great calligraphers or really the best chinese artists (not the opportunitists) you will find the same.
sometime you will be surprised just the little old man you passed by day in and day out rather next to you has full of great phylosophies in his head. which explains why he look at the world the way he does. they may not always have degrees. they could be just a farmer and no fancy talks
if you look hard enough, you will find them
if people care too much about fame and money, they will hardly be able to stay beyond the chicken shits.
only if you can step out fo the circcle and be able to look beyond, then you will be able to smile at a lot of things...
i am not there, far from there, but working on that myself...
