0.5% is just the transaction cost. For example, you buy a Euro-Dollar forward contract from bank. The bank will get the market price for that contract for you, usually for this type of easy product, they only charge 0.5% margin. Once they sell contract to you, they will hedge away all the risks in the market.
Sorry that I didn't put some conditions before. Usually you need to know your cash flow / payment schedule early. Also, for big institution transaction (>$10M), you can get help from better deal. Otherwise, you can go through banks' Small Business Program, like HSBC or Citybank.
