Granted, American education serves a more practical purpose than the Chinese one. Then how do you come up with the conclusion that a Chinese student who went through the same educational process won't gain like skills? Volunterring is one way for students to gain practical experience, and it is more so for undergraduates than for graduate students. Compassion is gained through all kinds of venues, not just education. But if one has been educated by a system that values compassion, I don't see how being Chinese would negate that effect. A Chinese student in America, has to overcome barriers of language, culture and many other things. In many cases, she has to work in someway to support her livelihood and education. How does that not counted as her learning through work and experience?
Is it just because she is not American?
Again, good points about essense of American education vs Chinese education, strange arguments about the futility of a Chinese student who undergoes the same education.
