the bourben street really stinks, the whole place smells like urine and vomitus. I cannot say that this is the place for me. Too loud, noisy and rouchy, don't really like it.
The garden district however is very unique, the old street cart takes you touring through this beautiful old section of the city that is filled with huge mansions. The street cart is really old and apparently it was intentionally maintained as what is was 60 years ago. When the street cart clanking through the old district that is filled with old big mansions, it just felt like you are going back to in 1920s, it was really really interesting and was definitely the highlight of my trip.
There is nothing much to say about the french quater, no good restaurants, everything is for the tourist.
The Ritz is a nice place to stay. Right by the ritz, there is a different section of the Ritz, it is like the club member section of this high end hotel and all the rooms are bigger and more nicely decorated than the Ritz itself. We had a good time.
One thing not to miss is the high tea at the Ritz lobby. Live classical music, Royal Doulton china, real silverware and delicious scones and nice view of the court yard. It was the best place to spend the afternoon with your friends/loved ones. And best of all, the price is surprisingly low, it was 7 USD for two!! We were so shocked that we asked the waitress if she had made a mistake. She smiled and told us it was the right price and then gave us more scone and cup cakes for us to take home. It is probably one of the best kept secret of New Orleans.
