Selling short is illegal in China. The writing of uncovered calls is an extremely risky business, not suitable for most retailing investors especially in China. Maybe that is why it is not available in China for the time being. Also the writer has to commit some assets to meet certain margin requirements. I don't think China offers margin accounts. Again, I don't have the guts to be in the China stock markets.
