Should I quit work to escape my bullying boss?
(consultant, female, 20s)
I recently started working at a small but successful
political risk consultancy. It is my first job and it
was a big coup to get it. However, I find the chief
executive is a tyrant. He is pedantic, condescending
and patronising and almost every day criticises me in
front of colleagues. This is a clear case of bullying,
but the company is small and there is no human
resources dept. to complain to. Others in the
organisation say he tends to ease off after six months
or so. but I don't know if I can hold out that long. I
have discovered that a number of people have left due
to mental and physical health issues. I am worried
that if I leave it will look really bad on my CV. What
should I do?
