I like the comment you and sapientaf made. Since when China bashing becames a vogue for some people here. Sure there are a lot of thing one can criticize about China. But totally denying his own culture, I think, is just like shooting himself in the foot.
The fact that your child could speak Chinese so well even though he went to a white school is amazing. I know it easy said than done and I really admire you for that.
