I think you confused about two concepts about China: the government v.s. its culture and its people

Everyone is entitled to have its own view about political systems and/or form of government.

However, the culture and its ordinary people of all civilization are to be respected and cherished.

In US, hatred or bias against people based on race, culture, religion or country of origin can be prosecuted as hate crime.

You are free to say you hate the government, but you can't say you hate certain people with a particular culture: Chinese or any other culture.

BTW ... I also think It is a good idea for you to get a hold of the PBS series - Becoming American
