Gold and metal stocks are fairly volatile, for this reason, I avoid individual metal stocks and my postions are mostly in ETFs such as GDX. Just bought TIE since there is heavy insider buying.

Oil stocks and sector funds are also plenty. I own PGH and few others.

One of my broker (ML) have research stocks about sector ETFs. I think online broker such as ETrade also provide ETF research section.

WSJ have an excellent section for funds/ETF and other market data analytics such as market sector heat map which is very useful.
