Hi, I had worked for three companies in USA before and all of them were telecom's. The sourcing procedures are very different and really depending on the size of company. The first company I worked on belong to kind of big company with employees over 4 thousands. The sourcing procedures were long and very complicated. Normally, the final decision was made by a team with the people from departments of product development (engineering department), manufacturing (QC, QA and sourcing), purchasing and finance. We do had several suppliers from Asia and most of them were Taiwaness companies. For large volume manufacturing, USA companies are normally prefering to Taiwaness OEMs because of their consistant product quality and effective communication channel.For small companies like I worked before for my second and third jobs, the sorcing procedures are much flexible and depends on the products. Sometimnes, the design or product engineer can make the decision for choosing vendors. (Normally, new vendor need to pass qualification/credit checking by sourcing or finance department first). Well, all above are only based on my previous experience.The company situation are different and sourcing procedure could be changed based on case by case.
