on the bail out. Lending money to the "top 500" is not going to do much at all, since more than half of people are employed by small businesses. If you want to bail out everyone, then 700 billion is just a drop in the bucket in a 15 trillion economy. The FED doesn't have the money nor the origination to be socializing the entire private sector.
The 700 billion is not meant to be a blood transfusion, but rather as a catalyst/lubricant to get the credit market moving again. Without addressing the credit problem, you will only exasperate the sub-prime problem. Right now the default rate is at about 6%, but if credit continue to freeze up, which will drive down the demand further, then leads to further default/price drop.
This 700 billion bail out is not guaranteed to work, but I know for sure your idea will definitely NOT work.
BTW. why do we Chinese always seem to be infatuated with "Top 500" this and that
