1. Language barrier. Many Cantonese people in my grandparents' generation don't understand Mandarin at all, not to mention the many other Northern dialects on display.
2. Cultural difference. It's just not our cup of tea, really.
3. Availability of alternative choices. Most (mainland) Cantonese families watch HK shows instead. Young people may even choose to have a night out instead of staying in.
