It's interesting that you are also in media business....i know a bunch of people of encore and btv....i hosted a delegation of chinese media organizations on half of time warner not long ago and some top executives from btv were among them.
encore ....do you mean the american movie channel ? in 1998 right before I came to the States, encore's beijing office and its auditing firm PRICEWATER HOUSE COOPERS asked me for suggestions about chinese market...i don't know much about encore..do you mean a chinese american executive of ENcore left and started his own biz ?
Syndication of foreign media content is almost a mission impossible in china at least for now. China's regulatory policies have too much uncertainties in this business...probably you heard that even newscorp, a multinational which has bowed as much as it could to the cHinese authorities, also got burned by bypassing the regulations to distribute content by its own channel in China. ....murdoch used the word "paranoid" to describe the regulators.
