move.
But after you made the decision, how do you deal with
your guilty feelings? This is something ignored by most counselors.
People who have guilty feelings when resigning should understand that the freedom of resigning is the fundamental right American society provides to each members.
We shouldn't be tortured by our guilty feelings when we exercise this undeniable right.
To make those people feel worse, some people take the company side and accuse those whose choose to resign
as betraying the training of company. They even name those "job hopper" which is a very negative word.
On the other hand, I have seen company laying off people every quarter, but no one call them "job cutters". Companies
lay off employees at the time that is convenient to themselves, not to employees. Some people are in the middle of paying back mortgages, raising kids. Yet their
projects are interrupted by employer's senseless
decision. How can you accuse any employee leave in
the middle of a project?
The responsible is on both sides. If the company doesn't
have lifelong employment guarantee, you shouldn't feel
bad when you resign, no matter how short you work for them,
or how important the project is.
We should give psychological support who are experiencing emotional hardship when they exercising their rights of resignation. We want them to understand, resignation is a necessary step to begin a new chapter. The new
opportunity afterwards are going to broaden their knowledge. It is usually a stepping stone toward something better.
