Not sure about situation in China, however, most of hiring company in US is asking for PMP certificate when looking for Project Managers (maybe because PMI is US based organization, I know lots European companies dont really care about PMP certificate as long as you have experience).
As Trinity said, the certificate itself will not land you a PM job easily if you've never managed project before (besides there is PM working experience audit prior to sit for the exam), and practical experience will better prepare you for the exam.
The exam itself is not really that hard as most of people said/thought, Rita's PMP exam prep book is pretty good one to get yourself ready. I personally spent about 50 hours on that book to pass the exam.
